Manu Boyd
Manu Boyd
Manu Boyd has led Ho'okena since 1986, and plays 'ukulele in the band (Kamaka, of course!). A graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawai'i Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, he also graduated as kumu hula through 'uniki rites from Robert Cazimero's Halau Na Kamalei. In 1997, he established his own school, Halau o ke 'A'ali'i Ku Makani.

Manu is the cultural director at Royal Hawaiian Center at Helumoa, and works with performing arts and cultural programming as well as communications, marketing, PR and overall management. He is recognized as a Hawaiian language and cultural resource, composer, arranger, chanter, choreographer, producer and writer.

Horace K. Dudoit III
Horace Dudoit
Horace K. Dudoit III, 12 string rhythm guitarist is the group’s musical arranger. He has played, sang and arranged music on 3 Grammy Nominated CD recordings from the islands from artist’s such as Keali’i Reichel’s “Ke‘alaokamaile”, Raiatea Helm’s “Sweet & Lovely” and of course Ho‘okena’s “Cool Elevation” CD. He has also produced a couple of exquisite CD’s starting with his mentor Kaipo Hale’s CD entitled “My Thoughts, My Music, My Time”, and a very creative, expressive, cultural awakening CD entitled “Po‘okela Chants” by a talented Kumu Hula/chanter from the mainland. Horace, along with his good friend and entertainer Maila Gibson, has written and arranged the music for the TV show “Hawaii Beyond Paradise” which is played here in the islands daily on channel OC16. He and his wife Nani have 3 sons, with the eldest being a United States Marine who is serving his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq. Horace has been employed by the U.S Postal Service (Airport Branch) since 1986 to the present.
Chris Kamaka
Chris Kamaka
Chris Kamaka, bassist, is employed in his family-owned business, Kamaka ‘Ukulele Hawai‘i Inc., and specializes in instrument making. He has performed and recorded with the Side Order Band, Ku‘uipo Kumukahi and the Ho‘opi‘i Brothers. Most recently, Chris has recorded an album with William "Baba" Alimoot as the group "Hema Pa‘a". He and his wife Ranette have four children and have recently welcomed a grandchild into the family, Melia.
Glen H.K. Smith
Glen Smith
Glen began his professional musical career in 1982 with the group KA‘EO, and is the vocal lead of the 1985 Na Hoku Hanohano Award winning “Song Of The Year,” From My Heart.  In 1987, he joined fellow Kamehameha Schools classmates Chris Keli‘ia‘a and Kenneth Makuakane, along with Roddy Lopez, of THE PANDANUS CLUB.  Finally, Glen is in his 20th year with HO‘OKENA.

Glen is a full-time employee of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. When he is not working or playing music, he and his wife Teri (Tootie) enjoy quiet evenings at home in the company of their puggie Abbey-Gail. They also enjoy shopping sprees, dinner and a movie, and taking trips to fabulous Las Vegas.

Nani Dudoit
Nani Dudoit
Nani Dudoit has been Ho‘okena’s “hula stylist” since 1986. A 1978 graduate of the Kamehameha Schools, she returned to KS to work as an administrative assistant for the Literacy Instruction and Support Department. With husband, Horace, they have three boys that they are very proud of.  She was a member of the hula halau, Na Pualei o Likolehua, under the direction of kumu hula Leina‘ala Kalama Heine for 25 years. In the early 80's, she performed in the Brothers Cazimero show as one of the featured dancers of the Royal Dance Company at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Monarch Room. She also graced stages in  New York City (Carnegie Hall), Australia, Japan, mainland, and the outer islands.  A devoted wife and mom, she is still able to balance raising a family, a professional career, and entertaining.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending quality time with her husband and children.
